Fabric made from cork; such a cool textile innovation!  Too bad it costs over 100 Euros per meter.

Alabama Chanin

Natalie Chanin is probably one of my favorite designers because of her unique style and the quality of her garments.  She uses a lot of applique and reverse applique.  Her designs are also sustainable and everything is hand made in the US.  Her pieces are simply beautiful.

Anna Wedding Gown

Last year she spoke at an event at my college, and I was lucky enough to do a workshop with her the day before with some of my fellow design students.  We all made different projects available in her DIY kits.  I did a stars and skulls t-shirt which is no longer available.  It was a lot of fun though and an awesome learning experience.  She has a couple DIY books with her designs in them on her website.  Some of them are kinda pricey for a college-student budget but if you can afford them and have the patience, they’re definitely worth the time.

This just gives me some awesome design ideas. This is a really interesting technique for adding extra texture to a garment…perhaps in conjunction with some different fabric dyeing methods.

These colors really pop and the eye make-up goes perfectly.
