Refashion your wardrobe!

Found the most awesome DIY website ever!  Shows lots of different ways to re-purpose old clothes into newer cute ones.  Great way to save money and be sustainable.  I just love projects ideas like this.

DIY Natural Fabric Dye (click on the picture)
I’ve been trying to find inspiration for a competitive design class I’m taking next year so I’ve been doing some research.  Might be fun to use organic cotton and natural dyes for whatever garment I decide to design.

Alabama Chanin

Natalie Chanin is probably one of my favorite designers because of her unique style and the quality of her garments.  She uses a lot of applique and reverse applique.  Her designs are also sustainable and everything is hand made in the US.  Her pieces are simply beautiful.

Anna Wedding Gown

Last year she spoke at an event at my college, and I was lucky enough to do a workshop with her the day before with some of my fellow design students.  We all made different projects available in her DIY kits.  I did a stars and skulls t-shirt which is no longer available.  It was a lot of fun though and an awesome learning experience.  She has a couple DIY books with her designs in them on her website.  Some of them are kinda pricey for a college-student budget but if you can afford them and have the patience, they’re definitely worth the time.
